This is done in really heavy black and gray seersucker. I can't describe it well, so here, see another picture:

This dress is extremely comfortable to wear, and even though it's seersucker, preferred fabric of summer, I've been wearing it all November-style with a long-sleeved black tee and black knee socks (and Justin roper boots) which is a little goth Dickensian orphan, but in a good way.
Because the fabric is so heavy I lined the pockets in lightweight black cotton, and did the undercollar in the same material:
I really like this heavy version of this dress, so I bought some black cotton faille and am going to make it again. I also have a black and beige faille, and a heavy houndstooth in brown and black … and some maroon stripey wool, and a truly maddening unmatchable plaid, all of which might be good candidates for this pattern. But don't worry — I also made two more Liberty Vogue 8728s. You'll see them soon!

You are shockingly prolific. In a good way. Love this version of the Simplicity dress. I am about to hit buy on the Vogue pattern, all because of you and your versions of that dress.

this is so, so gorgeous. seersucker is always a winner in my opinion, and that pattern is divine … the collar …. the skirt shape… the pockets….. will have to add it to my list of patterns to search for!

Love the Dress. I have the same boots which I have resoled due to dancing holes in them at many dance halls here in Texas. My husband and I take “dance across Texas” very seriously. I enjoy your blog. Hope you have fun in Paris.

Just stumbled across this blog. Wanted to tell you that your obsession with 8728 is too funny!! You are smart though. If you have a dress pattern that is flattering and easy to make–why not just keep on duplicating it. It looks very different in the alphabet summery fabric as compared to your ‘November’ style dresses. Now I’ll have to check back to see if you make it again. take care.

First of all, LOVE this blog! The angled pockets on this dress really add some flare. Great job! Did it go together fast? I just might have to add this to my ever growing list of dresses I want to make.
P.S. I have your same obsession with pockets. Although I don’t enjoy sewing them very much, everything I buy MUST have them. Fake pockets drive me nuts! Especially the ones that are made so well, you have to test them to be sure.
