NY Fashion Week: Tuleh Fall 2006

Tuleh Fall 2006

Unlike Atoosa Rubenstein, who said "I feel like I want to start starving myself so I can wear those clothes now" I wouldn't give up so much as a Raisinette for this one.

For one thing, it's pretty much this pattern, New Look 6348 isn't it? I mean, they're really similar. And I've already TRIED New Look 6348! Although, granted, not in black satin. In fact, there are a lot of things I haven't tried in black satin, but that doesn't mean they're making it on my life list.

I am deliberately not speculating whether Tuleh has started some interesting new padded clothing trend or whether the photographer just caught the model mid-wiggle.

The Getty images had some more pictures of Tuleh dresses, some with large same-fabric rose corsages, which were much less wearable but somehow more attractive. I'd link but their server has timed out on me. I know y'all can find 'em.

  1. I’m surprised Tuleh let this dress on the runaway. It’s so uninspiring it makes me want to go to sleep. At least the model looks like she eats bagels for breakfast. πŸ™‚

  2. Ha! I just cut out the pieces for that NL pattern last night, though I hope it will be more interesting in red polka dots.

  3. I want all the sleeves in that show made available for every dress that i own so i can interchange them depending on my mood. I know it’s not a dress, but I love the cream satin shirt in that show, too…Enjoying the 1940s nods in hair and makeup. Bring on Hitchcock Chic!! xx

  4. I too have made that dress from the new look pattern. I did mine (the big pic version) in a black matte silk. It turned out great. Wow, it’s so surprising that some designers get a way with such simple pieces and it costs more than my car. And then we will find the Vogue pattern for the same dress at triple the cost of the NL pattern. I enjoy simplicity but the Tuleh dress needed more.

  5. I’m with bbrug in preferring the New Look pattern. In general, I’m very disappointed in this season’s runway fashions. *lesigh*

  6. Did anyone else notice the toddler sitting on his/her parent’s lap in the audience?! What a crackup! Had I brought one of my own children to something like this and sat in the front row, 10:1 they’d be running down the catwalk less than 3 minutes into the show. Make that running down the catwalk without their pants on less than 3 minutes into the show!

  7. Although you can’t see it from this photo, what makes this dress really special is the back. It hits below the shoulder blades and the fabric is gathered and cascades to the hem. Really elegant in person. It’s all about making an exit in this dress. Unfortunely, you can see that in any of the pics from Style.com.
